Why I decided to study Software Engineering

Well, I should probably start by saying that at first I didn’t really care much about coding, or anything that had to do with computers for that matter. Anytime I would have to do school work on a computer, or really anything on a computer, I found it to be somewhat of a chore. I always felt like it was something that wasn't really hands on, which therefore made me think that it was something really boring to do. That’s why I took classes like Automotive Technologies or art classes for that matter.

But then I graduated from high school. I was working at a car dealership at the time, so I figured I would continue working there and just make a career out of it, besides, I wasn’t really interested in going to college or university, so it seemed like a good idea.

But then I realized something. Work was becoming really boring.

Obviously, when you first start a job, you start learning a bunch of new things, which for me made working really fun and interesting. But then it gets to the point where you basically learn everything, and then things start to become repetetive. So I quit. I decided to start working with my dad while I made the effort to find out what I wanted my career to be.

Some time goes by, and one of my friends starts talking to me about coding. Like I said before, coding was never something I would have ever considered to do for my career, but still, I decided to hear him out. He talked for a while, I asked him some questions, and by the end of the conversation I decided to start doing my own research.

That’s when I realized how wrong I was. I realized that coding is as interesting as you make it. If you have the right amount of knowledge, you could literally make a code do whatever you want, whenever you want it to. Coding is not boring. It's a whole lot of fun.
